Hello, I'm Monika, your proposal photographer

Planning a surprise proposal is exciting, but it can also feel like a lot to organise. Thank you for trusting me with such an important moment.

I will help you with the location, timing, meeting point and little details, then quietly capture the question and everything that follows. You do not need to have every detail worked out before you contact me.

Take a breath, take what is useful from this guide and ask me anything. We will make a clear plan together.

BEFORE THE DAY

A little planning makes the day feel much easier. We will keep the important details in one simple plan so you can focus on the moment.

  • Tell me your idea. It can be a complete plan or only a starting point.
  • Share what your partner expects. Their usual plans, walking routes and favourite places can help us keep the surprise believable.
  • Keep our messages private. Tell me the safest way to contact you, and let me know if we need to use a different name or subject line.
  • Ask every question. There is no such thing as a silly question when you are planning a surprise.
LOCATION

The best location is somewhere that feels meaningful to both of you. It could be a favourite walk, a beach, a city view, a restaurant or somewhere connected to your story.

  • Choose meaning over perfection. A place you both love matters more than a famous view.
  • Think about privacy. I can help you find a quieter corner or a time when a busy place feels calmer.
  • Check the practical details. We will look at parking, toilets, walking distance, access and a backup meeting point.
  • Have a simple reason to be there. A walk, a photograph, a picnic or a favourite view can make the plan feel natural.
TIMING AND LIGHT

We will choose a time that feels believable for your partner and beautiful for the photographs.

  • Morning and evening light is often soft and flattering, especially close to sunrise or sunset.
  • Build in extra time. Arriving early helps me find my position and gives you space if plans change.
  • Do not rush the moment. We can allow time for the question, the reaction and a little quiet time together afterwards.
  • Share your schedule. I will help you work backwards from the time you want to ask the question.
THE RING

Keep the ring safe and easy to reach.

  • Choose a secure pocket or small ring box that you can access quietly.
  • Practise taking it out with one hand, especially if you plan to kneel.
  • Keep the box somewhere it will not make a noise or create an unexpected shape in your pocket.
  • If you are worried about dropping it, tell me. We can plan a calm place to stand and a discreet way to hold it.
WHAT TO WEAR

Wear something that feels like you and suits the plan. Comfortable shoes are helpful if we will be walking.

  • Dress for the weather and location.
  • Empty bulky pockets so you can move naturally and reach the ring easily.
  • Choose clothes you can kneel, walk and sit in comfortably.
  • You do not need to dress up unless that feels right for your story.
MEETING MONIKA

We will agree exactly where I will wait and how you will recognise me. I arrive early and position myself carefully so your partner will not suspect a thing.

We can exchange recent photographs and have a video call beforehand. You can message me when you arrive, and I will guide you into position without drawing attention.

THE MOMENT

You do not need a perfect speech or a complicated performance.

  • Take a breath. Look at your partner and enjoy the fact that you are here.
  • Say what feels true. A few honest words are more meaningful than a memorised speech.
  • Kneel when it feels right. I will be ready, whether the moment happens exactly as planned or not.
  • Let the reaction happen. Tears, laughter, shock, hugs and a little confusion are all wonderful and real.

I will photograph the details quietly, including the question, the ring, the reaction and the first moments of being engaged.

AFTER THE YES

First, you will have time together to enjoy the yes. There is no need to rush straight into portraits.

When you are ready, we will take a relaxed walk around the location and create natural photographs of you together. You do not need to know how to pose. I will give you simple things to do and let you enjoy this new chapter.

WEATHER AND BACKUP PLANS

We will watch the forecast together. A little drizzle, wind or dramatic sky can make proposal photographs feel romantic and atmospheric.

If heavy rain, strong winds or unsafe conditions are expected, we can adjust the time, choose a more sheltered spot or reschedule. Having a backup plan is reassuring, even when we never need to use it.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS

You will receive a small collection of sneak peeks within 48 hours, ready to celebrate and share. Your private online gallery of at least 50 beautifully edited photographs will be ready within 3 weeks.

I will capture the proposal, the reaction afterwards and relaxed portraits together, so your gallery tells the complete story of the day.
