Hello, I'm Monika, your photographer

Thank you for choosing me to photograph you. Portrait sessions are relaxed, practical and centred on you. You do not need to know how to pose. I will guide you gently and help you feel comfortable.

These tips are here to help you feel prepared. Take what works for you, and ask me if you need a hand.

YOUR PHOTO SESSION

Portrait sessions usually last up to an hour, with time for a short break or a change of outfit. Headshot sessions are usually 10 to 20 minutes and are designed for stylish, modern professional portraits.

WHAT TO WEAR

Wear something you really like and feel confident in. Comfort makes a real difference in front of the camera.

  • Think about your brand. Your colours and clothing can reflect your work and the impression you want to make.
  • Dress for the weather. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes you can move in.
  • Keep it timeless if that suits you. Natural colours and classic pieces work beautifully, but your own style matters most.
  • Bring more than one outfit. You can change during the photoshoot if you would like a different look.
  • Ask for a second opinion. Send me a few photos of your wardrobe options and I will be happy to help.
WHAT TO AVOID

These are gentle suggestions, not rules. Wear what feels right for you.

  • Large logos and very busy patterns that pull attention away from your face.
  • Clothes that are too tight, too loose or too short.
  • Open backs or necklines that show underwear when you move.
  • Bulky items such as phones and car keys in your pockets.
  • Heavy face creams that make your skin look oily or shiny.
  • Chapped lips, chipped nail polish, creased clothes or pet hair if these would bother you.
  • Anything that shows more skin than you feel comfortable with.
HAIR AND MAKEUP
  • A little hairspray can help hold your hair in place, especially outdoors.
  • You can wear slightly more makeup than usual if you would like.
  • Lipstick can add definition, and do not forget about your hands and nails.
PROPS

Props are optional. A hat, scarf, glasses, instrument or another meaningful item can add personality and help you feel more at ease.

BEFORE YOUR PHOTOSHOOT
  • Get your outfits and essentials ready well in advance.
  • Keep a little space before and after the photoshoot so you do not feel rushed.
  • Have a snack and stay hydrated before you arrive.
  • Check traffic, parking and the meeting point beforehand.
  • Arrive a little early so you can settle in comfortably.
WHAT TO BRING
  • Personal touch up items, such as lipstick or a hairbrush.
  • An extra outfit for changing.
  • A water bottle.
DURING YOUR SESSION
  • Relax and enjoy yourself. It is your moment, and I will guide you every step of the way.
  • Be yourself. You do not need to perform or pose perfectly.
  • Take your time. We can pause, change direction or try something different.
  • Have fun. I will help you feel comfortable and capture portraits that feel like you.
